CENTRAL OREGON SEED EXCHANGE
Central Oregon Seed Exchange (COSE) is a network dedicated to strengthening our farming and gardening community in central Oregon. Our goal is to create a sustainable local food supply and support regional biodiversity. We are working to increase local seed saving, increase seed exchange, provide education around how to effectively save seed & develop seed stock acclimatized to our unique area, & generally support sustainable agriculture in Central Oregon. Our regional Deschutes County Seed Exchange is located at Central Oregon Locavore in Bend, OR.
We have received grant funding for the 2018 growing season to providing resources for our new Seed to School program! The first of it's kind in the country to provide free locally grown vegetable and flower seed packets to ALL Bend-LaPine School District children. If you know of anyone who might benefit from this program, please send them our way!
We have grown! Expanding to 3 local farms here in Deschutes County for seed production, we are in desperate need of more space. The Central Oregon Seed Exchange provides free seed and educational opportunities to low income residents, local school chapters, non-profit groups, tribal communities, local farmers and school children in Deschutes County. We will be increasing our yields again for the 2018 growing season to encourage access to more healthy, locally grown, cold climate, non-GMO produced seed for local residents in Central Oregon. We will be building a low cost, custom built Seed Storage Shed to safely contain our existing and expanding seed bank. Feel free to visit our website for more information on our successful programs!
